Husqvarna HU700L : Husqvarna HU700L 22-Inch 160cc Honda GCV160 Gas Powered 3-in-1 RWD Self-Propelled Lawn Mower (CARB Compliant)
I bought this lawn mower about 2 months ago to replace a 9 year old Craftsman mower with a briggs and straton engine. The lawn mower I was replacing still ran like a champ but the self propel front wheels ceased up. I bought this lawn mower primarilly because it had a Honda engine and I figured that the rest is just the chasis so what's the difference. Well, if I could have tried this lawn mower before purchasing, I would have bought something different.
THE GOOD: Front and rear wheels are staggered which reduces wheel track paths in the yard, engine runs very strong, variable self propel speed determined by how far you engage it, overall quality feels well built.
THE BAD: Gas tank narrows at the top which causes me to overflow fuel every time I fill, self propelled wheels do not always disengage when lever released making it difficult to move backwards at times when needed, the bag is almost impossible to stay attached to the bag frame, if using mulching option there is a line of cut grass left on the lawn which looks aweful (that's why I am bagging now and have not in 9 years as my other mower did not do this).
If you do not mind looking at cut grass lines laying on your yard (if you choose to mulch...bagging does do a fantastic job but is a hassle I am not used to doing) or the self propelled wheels not always disengaging when you release them, then everything else seems pretty nice about this mower. If I had known about these two issues before purchasing, I would have spent my money on something else for sure. I personally would not recommend this mower.
